SO, why do I eat healthy?
Ok, ready for a long story/ rant?
So it all started in September of 2015. I got really sick with all these random symptoms. I would wake up every morning feeling extremely fatigued, despite the night of rest before. I would get massive migraines, stomach cramps, dizziness, and just feel a general sense of malaise. I could barely go out with my friends because I would get so tired and and weak. I played volleyball at the time, and I dreaded going to practice. After practice I would feel like I had just been beaten up with a bat. My bones ached and were so weak. During this time I started having unexplained weight loss and just felt so crappy. I got diagnosed with anemia, some weird virus animals get...lol, gasteroparesis, food intolerances, and some funky autoimmune stuff. There was not much the doctors could do to make me feel better... I just could not regain my energy.
- but that is when I found healthy eating. I had read in some article I saw in a magazine about how eating healthy had helped a girl with similar symptoms to me, feel better. So you know I started doing some research and found a whole community that had adapted to a healthy eating style to treat their (what seemed like incurable) symptoms.
So one day, after many and many months of feeling crappy, I decided to give it a try, and eat more healthy, wholesome, and nutritious foods. I was diagnosed with lactose and gluten intolerances so I eliminated those from my diet. AND OMG guys my symptoms decreased sooooo much. When I eliminated gluten my migraines and fatigue decreased by a lot. When I eliminated dairy, my gastro symptoms were relieved. I started eating a lot more fruits and veggies, lean sources of meat, and pretty much eliminated processed foods. When I did this, I did not realize all the benefits clean eating had on your body. My skin became clearer and my face brighter. My mood was amplified to pure joy because of all the happy endorphins the nutritious food was giving me. My hair got stronger and my nails thicker. I absolutely loved the way clean eating made me feel. Ever since I started to eat healthier foods, I do not crave any processed foods anymore. I crave foods that will give me energy and not make me feel crummy.
You can judge all you want but healthier eating has literally cured me, believe it or not. I am not saying you have to eat like me to be happy and healthy...that it just works for me. Although I 100% recommend adapting to a healthier lifestyle; you will not regret it :)
